Legendary music icon Doodlebug Cee-Knowledge presents up and coming singer, songwriter, and recording artist KROWN.  The Tri-State area talented and versatile artist delivers a modern flow of Funk and Alternative Hip-Hop for all generations of music purists and enthusiasts to embrace.

KROWN’s debut project “Nothing Lasts Forever” is available for free streaming and download. The mixtape is executively produced by Cee-Knowledge with contributing production by Quickly Quickly, Steve Young, Beatjoven, LA Soulchyld, RIVR, Oui Lele, Whitecliffs, Strkfr, Krapf, and Cairo.

“I chose this as the name for my first project because I feel like those words perfectly capture the stage I’m at in life right now. The theme of this project is saying goodbye to the old me, the way I used to be, the things I used to believe, the way I used to see the world. This is a compilation of songs that prior to this, I would’ve been too scared to show anyone, let alone the world. At 22, This not only marks the beginning to my career but the beginning of who I truly am and what I’m truly supposed to be doing in this world. Because as they say, Nothing Last Forever..”–KROWN

The leading single/video “Wassup” describes a young man looking for love while weeding out deceptive women and remaining focused on success. KROWN displays intermittent jazzy vocals and ear captivating lyrics over an arrangement of fused soul and effervescent production originally sampled from Donell Jone’s 1999 R&B hit “U Know What’s Up.”  Stream “Nothing Lasts Forever” on Bandcamp

About KROWN

KROWN’s movement in the music industry thus far hasn’t gone without notice or recognition.  His journey began early on in high school when he formed a rap group and released a few local hits. From there he scored several modeling gigs with BET, Phat Farm, and Nickelodeon. After a brief hiatus KROWN ventured out to Los Angeles to reinvent his musical journey and to evolve the record label and collective Uplifted World.

R&B sensations Niko, Baby Boy, and Sam Anthony make up the group 120. The brand itself has been around for over nine years, but for the past five these three singers have pushed the group into the limelight for well-deserved notoriety in the music industry.  All three share grade-A personal beliefs, a concrete work ethic, topped with incredible amounts of talent.  For that reason, as well as their lengthy musical resume, legendary Producer D/R Period took notice of the group and signed them to Rockboy Records.

Their success as a group came at an overwhelming speed.  Mixtapes and countless singles and videos took the world by storm!  With a blink of an eye they were appearing on TV Shows, radio shows, receiving awards, and mentioned on varied magazines and other media outlets.  Their music was being played globally, even on popular Social Media games! Not even at the peak of their career, the group toured the U.S. in Philly, Jersey, California, Cleveland, and Connecticut, just to name a few places.

“We are grateful to 106 Park, Universal Circus, NBC, and Fox 29 for taking an interest in our music and our story.  We want the world to know that there are still R&B groups out there touching the stages, and that real singers still exist”

To date 120 is active in the studio working on several upcoming projects, including movies.  They also have their schedule booked with live performances.

“These next moves will add fuel to the fire that’s already out there.  We will leave our mark on the world and be remembered as the realist R&B group out there”

If you’re a fan of that sensual, touch the soul, and feel good R&B then press play below and listen to 120.

WAYZ is a Mexican-American Emcee on his way to becoming the next big thing! Like other stories of street life, he needed and escape from the chaos and madness that surrounded him.  With a fascination for entertainment, production, and television it only made sense he gravitated towards pen and pad. He was a natural for putting words together, storytelling, and gracing the mic. In the blink of an eye WAYZ was full throttle in the limelight performing at acclaimed venues in Miama, Tampa, Arizona, and Chicago.  Break time was only for creating continual music for fans.

WAYZ latest single “Machine” is bar for bar an intense record.  If you weren’t familiar with him before, you will be now!  The intensity begins the second you press play. There’s no need for an intro because the army stomping cadence blended with club beats curbs listeners right into his lyrical combat.  He asserts his confidence as an emcee that wont’t be ignored in the industry. The prosperity of his music is based on a hustle of no sleep, 24/7 racing mind, and grinding until death knocks on his door.  Although WAYZ is open-minded, his reminder to the game is a simple one, “Can’t pay bills with the next man’s 2 cents.”

John Jigg$ is no amateur or slouch when it comes to his musical and business grind. In a short period of time he went from paving the industry streets to flying overseas for his own personal European Tour.

What perfect timing and absolute brilliance to release “Grecian Numerals” while packing his tour luggage. The record highlights his skill set and confirms with confidence the uphill journey to the prime of his career.

Jigg$ is swift yet combative with his bars. He leaves no room for debate that he is the total package to win. “When I finish doing damage you can bandage this up“. Bar for bar he is knocking down the competition, “True to the game new to the lame shit“.

Zay The Doeboy, originally from Brooklyn and now residing in New Jersey, was born into music, and guided by some of the majors in the industry!  “Other kids were into basketball and football, but I just wanted to be in the studio all day and everyday”.  Raised by legendary Producer and Recording Artist, D/R Period, Zay did just that! As a child he witnessed Jay Z, Nas, Smooth The Hustler, and so many other famed artists perfect the craft of creating timeless music.

Although writing rhymes since he was a young boy, it wasn’t until age 13 that Zay was determined to record music and make a name for himself.  Being of that age there were many that doubted Zay and his declaration.

“I bought a $20 mic and a music program and just started going in. I met other people along the way and formed a group. I brought my music to D/R and the rest is history”

Zay matured and his days and nights were consumed in the studio. His motto, “Carry On”, reflected his mindset to continue to create and grow as an artist.   There were many lessons along the way in Zay’s journey from major artists, D/R Period, as well as the streets.  Throughout those years he learned to step up his lyrical game and master the craft of putting together bars and hooks.  Zay’s hard work and dedication combined with noteworthy learned lessons, resulted in a catalog of mixtapes including 5 volumes of “Time to Pay Up”, “Smells like Winter”, “Hot New Hip Hop”, along with his EP “Zayyy”.

“I’m my own kind of artist, original and unique. I grew up developing all three to become Zay The DoeBoy”

To date you can catch Zay performing on some of the most prestige stages across the east coast, and at Hip Hop’s most celebrated festivals such as SXSW. Be on the lookout for Zay’s forthcoming album “Carry On”, a self-produced debut solo album.  Signed to Rockboy Records under D/R Period, this is just the beginning for Zay The DoeBoy!

Residing in Albany, New York is up and coming local artist by the name of Clear Mind.  With a large grass root fan base, he is on his way to claim fame outside of the Tri-State area as evidenced by mass media footage, live events, showcases, and radio airplay.  I was shockingly impressed when I caught wind to his newly released mixtape “Swords, Metaphors, & Pressure Points”, which is predominately self-produced by Clear Mind.  I was also astonished by his level of excellence and execution with lyricism, versatility, and beat selection.  Not one track is repetitive in flow, rhyme, sound, or message. He gives listeners something real to grasp, embrace and relate to especially with tracks “Fire at my Feet”, “Legend”, “Walk with Me” and the most heartfelt track “Freestylin’ Under Influence”.  This mixtape also illuminates a fusion of Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, and personal scriptures which define Clear Mind as artist and man, from struggles to confidence, and with the certainty of becoming a legend in his own right. Clear Mind has the ability and conviction to create timeless and extraordinary music.
